Pony.ai to use Nvidia Drive AGX Pegasus for Robotaxi Fleets

High-Performance AI Compute Platform to Enable Autonomous Mobility Services

Fremont, Calif., May 14, 2020 — Pony.ai, a leading autonomous driving technology company, announced today that it will be using the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Pegasus™platform for its robotaxi fleet.

Pony.ai is working to revolutionize the future of transportation by building safe and reliable technology for autonomous mobility. Since late 2018, Pony.ai has been piloting robotaxis, called PonyPilot, in multiple geographies across the globe, including Fremont and Irvine, California, and Guangzhou and Beijing, China. The company is the first to offer a robotaxi service to the general public in California, operating in Irvine since November 2019.

Pony.ai will leverage the energy-efficient, high-performance NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Pegasus self-driving platform to meet the massive computing demands required to bring robotaxis to market. Architected for safety, DRIVE AGX Pegasus achieves an unprecedented 320 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of deep learning and integrates two NVIDIA XavierTM SoCs and two NVIDIA TuringTM Tensor Core GPUs.

The Xavier SoC and Turing GPU achieved top results in MLPerf Inference, the first industry-standard, independent AI benchmarks. These benchmarks demonstrate NVIDIA’s leadership in AI inferencing for a variety of different tasks and scenarios, a critical capability for safe operation of self-driving vehicles.
